Oct 26th at OCC with visitors

This Sabbath was one of people helping out at the last minute it seems.

Thank you for Tammy taking the SS for this morning.  What a great thing to have someone willing to do extra after their own other duties.

Pastor Josue also stepped in and lead in the upstairs lesson Bible lesson class as something unexpected called away the one who was planning to lead.

Thank you again for stepping in at the last minute, Pastor.

For the Praise and Service time Beverly took some photos so that the ones of us who were away could have a peek and see what took place.

Lets have a look now...

OCS students come to OCC.

Praise Time leaders - teacher and students.

Looks like a full church this morning.

Ms Swain tells the Children's story.

Now I am curious what it was about... any one can share with us.

Ready to sing.

Lovely to see these students share their music.

Sabbath at OCC

Vicki showed a lovely video about geese flying in formation and helping break the way for the rest to follow.  It told of more and was very thought provoking.

She invited Dave to play the banjo and it sounded very nice.  It would be great to hear him again.

In the Younger Kid's Korner the leader was introducing wonderful animals that live in the ocean.

The sand and sea shells are so much fun.

The children watch carefully as teacher shows them a star inside of each apple and then gives them a tiny taste.

Only A Boy Named David...

So many children to hear the story this Sabbath.

Bright and cheery bulletin

Giving the children's offering to the deacon.

Beautiful table decorations.

Walter had his 95 th birthday at the beginning of October but we enjoyed singing to him and several other birthday people in October and then ate spice cake.

So nice for Great Grandpa to have little A with him at OCC

Grama is so happy to have her little guy here in her arms.

Waiting for the delicious foods for our vegetarian buffet.

Another Sabbath Day

Dave led the SS this Sabbath.  He shared about the many intricate things of our hearts. How wonderfully they are made.
He had two special musics and we enjoyed them both.
Richard played the harmonica and later Donovan and Danielle sang " I Don't Know About Tomorrow" while Danielle played the guitar.
It was lovely to have them back at OCC again.
Thank you.

The Older Kid Korner classroom was quite busy.  Here is what they made for part of their time in SS.

Praise time with Karen was uplifting and the children's story given by Jason was enjoyed.

This little one is so smilely when he sings.

Good to have him visiting Grama.

Children's offering helpers.

Elder of the Month... Roland.
Our speaker this Sabbath.

A visitor
Grama enjoying having her grandsons home.

She played such a lovely piece for Special Music.  We sure do like to see you playing and sharing your talents with us and Jesus.

Donovan brought us the sermon this day and he really shared a lovely message.

He talked about Growing Up and Being Mature.  Some of the texts used were from James but then he also used Prov 12:5 and Prov 24:46. Isaiah 40:28.

Some points he made were: Ask God, He listens and will help.  God will not tire of you.
There is no shame in grabbing the mane... part of a small story he told about when Barry C used to teach Donovan and his sister Danielle about horse riding.
God knows life better then we do.
And wanted us to think about if we are all in or all out.
Thank you for the excellent sermon, Donovan.

Sabbath, October 5th at OCC

Sabbath School is such a great place to begin our worship service and this weekend Glenda had the program.  After the opening song and prayer about prayer, different people shared about someone who they knew had prayed for them.  It is always encouraging to know that someone is praying for you.  It is a wonderful gift to do for others.  It is comforting and important to pray ourselves too.

There was a little Bible quiz and then a short mission video about where our 13th Sabbath offerings went in 2013 and will also go this quarter too.  If we start now to think about what we want to share on 13th Sabbath for these special projects it will be something special to have for a project.

Look on the back of your quarterly and find all the projects for this quarter.

Lori took the first part of the lesson sharing time and started with handing us all a copy of a time line for this study in Ezra and Nehemiah.

Thank you for taking the time to put this timeline together, Lori.

Starting the lesson sharing time.
Then for the last part we reflected on thought provoking questions about "What walls are breaking down around you now?"
"What walls need to be repaired?"
"What are some burdens God is placing on our hearts now?"

We went into the Praise Time with Karenda leading and Melissa joining in the singing while Howard played the piano and sang.  It is a great, lively song service when these young people are leading.

Dave announced about an upcoming event - the 2nd annual Treasure Hunt by the Waterfront.

Children's  Song, Story and Offering came next and Dave told a personal story about his uncle.

We always enjoy Special Music and this time it was Dave W and Doyle playing their trombones in a lovely duet.

Bible reading from Vicki

And prayer.

Herb Larsen Junior shared the sermon this morning.  It was a powerful one with many Bible texts... all about guilt and how it can be counter fit and how forgiveness works from God.   He started with 1 John 1:9 and telling about two men in the Bible... doing much the same things but having different outcomes.  Peter and Judas.  Isaiah 43:25 was read as well as Isaiah 12 and Ps 65:3 and Hebrews 9:14.  This is just a little start of the texts and stories shared.  Thank you, Herb for coming to Kelowna and sharing with us.
Friends after church

Thank you for joining us.

Walter had a special birthday a couple of days before this Sabbath and he had some visitors and hugs and good wishes...

Pastor Josue comes to visit and bring a little sweetness along for the birthday man.

Sitting in church with his daughter is special too.

Having these two come to share Walter's special day was great.

A Doug hug for Walter.

Enjoying the 95th birthday greetings.
