Easter Sabbath

A bright sun filled Sabbath day for our Easter Program at OCC.

Shirley and daughter Jody spent time making the front of the sanctuary pretty but also meaningful too.

This great team inspired us to sing during Praise Time.

Vicki and Nancy played with the Praise Team and enhanced the lovely voices.

Singing is such a unique and wonderful way to express our joy to have a Saviour who loves us so very much.

Loretta had the scripture and prayer.

Lea had a really good story about God's faithful care for a young girl with her horses in Alberta.  Later that girl moved to Kelowna and lived here and raised her children here.

Lea gave the children these nice pictures to use during the service.

We all listened to the story along with the ones on the front pew.

Beautiful solo by Denise...

David shared a story about going to visit his son several years ago when it appeared to his son that he was not going to get the visit and treats he had been hoping for.
But Dad and Mum were coming and they knew just when they would be there and got there much to the son's joy.  David likened this to Jesus coming back to earth for us but we wonder how long it will take and if He had forgotten us... but He has a wonderful plan for us and will come at just the right time.

Sharon told a very interesting story before she sang her very meaningful song.

It was about college students talking up certain fields of learning more then trades for example.

At one point her son spoke up for the first time as they were bringing up the name of Jesus and if He was maybe a most important person from history... and said... yes, and I hear He was a carpenter.  (trades person).  We know He loves and died for ALL.

Dexter and Bridgenna shared a little more about their lives and how God's love fills them with Joy!!

For someone worried about being in front of an audience, she sure gets up there and shares so well what she wants to say.

Dianne shared a story from her life and then also shared a lovely song.

Candice told us about passed trials but love and joy she has now knowing Jesus are her Friend and Saviour.

These two make a very good team to share Jesus love.

In a little change of the program, Glenda shared a couple little stories noting how good Jesus is in all our circumstances.

Then we resumed and The Gerrans Family and Glenda played the chimes - In The Garden.

One verse of chimes played, then Camden, Alison and Jonathan sang the first verse, then they played another verse on the chimes.

Lori had the closing remarks and prayer and the program concluded.

It was a thoughtful and warmhearted collection of praises.

Alex and Karen were part of the Praise Singers along with Christine and Denise.

It is so great to see a nice mix of people singing up front.

Camden was interested in the organ.  Nancy kindly showed her while Karen and Bob seem interested too.

Wish Bob could have been part of the program too like he used to be.

Doug had some really neat photos he took of a sharp tailed hawk sleeping over his dinner.

Pretty amazing to see.

Shirley and Liza share a happy moment together.

Love these bright happy smiles.

Our church is so happy to have these wonderful people to come each week and be part of the family.

Liza gets a warm hug from young DJ. Such nice people.

The next afternoon there was a little come and go party for Arlene and Wilf Janot (Kandus Thorp's parents and neighbours to Gay and Alex)  for their 65th wedding anniversary.

What a nice long time they have had to be best friends. And a great team.

Congratulations!!!

March 9th International Sabbath

Alex had the lesson this Sabbath.
His art work on the white board is helpful and he brought along a staff to illustrate.
Thanks, Alex.

Lesson discussion was followed by Mission Spotlight.

Praise Time was led by Tammy, Denise and Dami with the singing, and with music by Joel and Todd and Vicki.

Liza helped us try to sing a song in her language from the Phillipines - How Great Thou Art.

Olga helped with a German version of Amazing Grace.

Pastor Josue sang in Spanish.

Dexter liked helping hand out papers.

The Children's Story was enhanced by Pastor Josue taking the parrots 🦜  🦜  Pepe and Suzie's part speaking in Spanish. Santo Santo Santo...

Peter played Adoration on his violin along with his pianist David. It was very beautiful.
We have enjoyed Peter's music for several years now.

Dexter and Bridgenna had the Scripture and Prayer.

The big news of the day was that Bridgenna told us they got their work permits on Friday!!!!
Such wonderful news for us too. Thank the Lord for this!

Pastor Josue had the sermon and Brad Thorp, our BC conference president, came for the service and to announce the meetings at Rutland Church in 2 weeks.

Pastor Brad and his wife Kandus recently shared the launch of the new Hope Channel Canada station in this video on the conference Facebook page.

Then we helped ourselves to the tasty International Fellowship Meal.

Bridgenna printed many flags to decorate with and Lori  had  papers in each napkin to give us facts about different countries.

The blue runner down the middle of the tables showed how we are only apart by the water around us.

Dexter, Bridgenna, and DJ -- very happy to finally have their work permits!
