Video Wednesday: Be (My heart, My hands, My voice)

When I watched the music video for Selah's new song "Be" I was very inspired by the young woman who spoke at the start of the video about her conversion from the Muslim faith to Christianity. How amazing it is when people can notice a difference in a life that has been reformed and rejuvenated by Jesus Christ!

Here is what Selah singer, Todd Smith, wrote about their new song:
In case you have not heard, we wrote, recorded, and made a video last month called "Be." We shot it on location in Istanbul, Turkey. The song was inspired by Jesus words in Matt 16:24-25 (ESV): "Then Jesus told his disciples, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.'" I’ve let my "American Dream Theology" define what I think God wants of me, and has called me to. It’s so far from the truth of His Word. Hopefully this message will remind us we are called to give everything. We are called to suffer, be persecuted even to the point of death if that’s what Jesus requires. The young women at the beginning of this video (below) is choosing to give everything. We hope her story encourages and challenges you as it has us. -Todd Smith
I love the words of this song. There is power in knowing that "the life you are called to will not be in vain, so don't be afraid." And I definitely want to my life to mirror these words in the chorus, "No matter the cost, be My heart, My hands, My voice."

Thanks you, Glenda Q., for sending in this video. If anyone else has a video they would like to see featured on our blog, please let me or my mum know.

Video Wednesday: Tokay High School Testimony

In our first Video Wednesday feature I shared the video of Willy's Story. Today I want to go back to the Living It High School Outreach website and share another story. This one is a testimony reel from the Christian Club at Tokay High School. I'm so glad these students aren't afraid to talk about their faith to their fellow high school students! What a witness students on fire for God can be!

Video Wednesday: Willy's Story

While reading an article in the April 11, 2013 Adventist Review, "That mission Field Down the Street," I learned about Scott R. Ward and his ministry, Living It High School Outreach. The stories in the article impressed me and I went to the website to watch one of the videos Scott referred to in his article. There I found a wealth of videos to watch and I quickly realized I wanted to share them with others as well. These young people have powerful stories to share of their walk in the world and how they came to know and love Jesus, who has transformed their lives.

My mum and I decided that we wanted to start a new feature here on the OCC blog, a feature of sharing uplifting and inspiring videos with you. So here it is, our new feature, Video Wednesday! Each Wednesday we will post a new video to share with you, a mid-week inspirational story to boost our spirits and realize that God is working in powerful ways in the lives of many. We hope you will enjoy this new feature. If any of you have seen an inspiring video you want to share, please send them to us so we can feature them on a future Wednesday post!

Shared testimony

We had an amazing couple share their testimony this morning for our church service.
Ken and Carol were a lovely addition to our fellowship.
If you get a chance to hear their story, listen to it and learn to relax in God's care for each one of us.
