At OCC October 8th 2022

Happy Sabbath to all this Thanksgiving Day Sabbath...

Alison and Jonathan helped lead the Praise Song Time and had children come up for the song for the kids.

So glad she likes to sing.

Jerrie Lou told her story of learning how to sew and do those kinds of things with her hands and material.  The quilts she makes with her friends or sisters are so so beautiful and bless many people.

There are Hundreds Thousands Millions of Sparrows... special music...

Our guest speaker this day from Van

Our guest speaker for the day from Vancouver area.  We sure did listen to and enjoy hearing the message Pastor Mario Di Lione had to share with us. Thank you very much.

Popcorn during Bible story time.

After the service there was a lovely fellowship meal for all who stayed to enjoy.
Thank you for everyone who made this Sabbath a good day.

Myrna Tetz

Our dear friend and sister in Christ, Myrna, is resting in Jesus for now.

After Pastor Bob needed treatment for his acute leukemia, Myrna went into care in Durham, and after that, as they had realized would happen, she declined.

She died on October 19th at home with Pastor Bob beside her.

We will miss Myrna for so many reasons. Her kind, inclusive ways warmed many hearts of children and adults. She had a most ready and wonderful smile.

She was an astute editor as well as an author.

Myrna's daughter Linda, her husband Keith, and their family, and Myrna's son Gary will miss her deeply as well as her husband, Bob.

The family will share a link to watch the memorial once the details for the service have been arranged.

Beginning of a New Month and a New Quarter - October 1st, 2022

HELLO AUTUMN     OCTOBER IS HERE   ENJOY ALL THE FINE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

SUNSHINE AND BLUE SKY THIS SEASON OF THANKSGIVING!!

Lori had the scripture and prayer.

Praying Pastor.

Pastor Weir had a very good sermon talk about the prodigal son.  He shared with us the meaning of prodigal which is, spending or using large amounts of moneytimeenergy, etc., especially in a way that is not very wise

The father in the story now has no money on which to live so the elder brother is resentful that it is up to him to look after his father.  He does not think that is fair at all.
Pastor Weir brought out other very interesting facts and put it all very concise and clearly.

Then when he finished the speaking part Pastor Weir shared this meaningful song.

Singing Pastor too.

Look up the video,  From My Rags to His Riches to hear the whole song.

Have a good Sabbath day.

Pastor Josue had the service this Sabbath

Lesson study started off the morning at OCC with the last lesson of this good series In The Crucible with Christ.

From the lesson, Christ in the Crucible this statement stood out.

Whatever our sufferings here, thanks to Jesus, thanks to His bearing in Himself the punishment of our sin, thanks to the great provision of the gospel — that through faith we can stand perfect in Jesus right now — we have the promise of eternal life. We have the promise that because of what Christ has done, because of the fullness and completeness of His perfect life and perfect sacrifice, our existence here, full of pain, disappointment, and loss, is no more than an instant, a flash, here and gone, in contrast to the eternity that awaits us, an eternity in a new heaven and a new earth, one without sin, suffering, and death. And all this is promised to us and made certain for us only because of Christ and the crucible He went into so that one day, coming soon, He would see “the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied” (Isa. 53:11).

11 He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.

By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,

For He shall bear their iniquities.

For this coming week read and study the new lessons in the guide book... On Death and Dying and Our Future Hope.

Praise Time was led by Tammy, Heidi and Denise with instrumental playing by Vicki, Joel and Todd.
It was nice to use the red chorus book for several songs again and the hymnal for some too.

So glad to have children for the Children's Song and Story.

A listener looking for his grandpa...

The special music group this Sabbath...a very nice blend of voices.
Vicki and Joel and Todd accompanying them was very nice.

The Pastor enjoys the special music and keeps a memory of it.

Scripture and Prayer from this grandson and grandfather team.

Always nice to see the Pastor preaching from his dad's large Bible.  Think it is in Spanish or English?

Pastor share the message today from the gospels Mark and Luke.  He was showing us about the details in the story of the transfiguration.  Thank you Pastor for the time you put into your sermons.

A couple of people ( or more) made the changes to the decorations so we can transition to Autumn.  It is so pretty to see the reds, browns, oranges and yellows again.  Thank you Heidi and Shirley.

Our pond looking serene and pretty beside our church.
