Meeting at OCC - Nov 23nd

We are so fortunate for all the work done at the General Conference level for our SS materials for the young people and also for the adults.
The Mission Spotlights are fantastic to share with all of us what areas the church is sending the 13th Sabbath Mission Offerings to each quarter.

This quarter it is featuring the East-Central Africa Division.
Look at the back of a quarterly or look online to see what that means.

This Sabbath Gay shared a wonderful story about a man who learned about the God of Heaven from non- Christian books.

It was also shared about doing things for others with out recognition or expecting thanks.

Looking after each other is a very important part of church family life.

Our children are very important in our Sabbath School too.  Take time to get to know their names and ages. Speak to them each week and let them know they are a valuable part of our church family.

Enjoying Tammy leading  the Praise Time for SS.
Lovely tasty honey dew melon.

Teacher Liza had a lesson about Daniel and how he chose to drink water and eat clean healthy foods. She shared honeydew melon with the children.
Creative Bible lesson game Teacher Liza made up for the older children.

Teacher Shannon leads the Nativity program for the younger children.

They enjoy it!!

Thank you so much for doing this part for SS.
Thank you so much, Jerrie Lou, for leading the class upstairs  Bible discussion.

Pastor Josue was away to Cuba to preach in meetings there.  We miss him here but are so glad he has this opportunity to share Jesus elsewhere too.
Pastor Bob had the message of the morning and he is so good at telling stories to fit the lesson and being humble... and real in the them.  Thank you to all of the Pastors that look after us.

Dave fixed the string for R... awwww.

Roland telling the Children's Story... it was a good one.
Pastor Bob we appreciate you and Myrna.

Each Sabbath these friends smile so big and sit with each other... it is so nice to see.

Sharing a few words after the church service.  It will be nice to have Pastor Josue back next week.
The people who decorate the church as so appreciated.  It really looks nice.  Thank you.

JoeAnna's House Opening

Remember putting money on the tree in December?
Or maybe giving another time for a special fund?

Remember giving to JoeAnna's House?

Well, it had it's Grand Opening on Thursday evening, November 21st, 2019.

If you were there you felt the nippy cold and smelled the popping corn and stood for the speeches.

If you weren't there then you can see a few scenes here.

Thank you for your donations.

Thank you for caring.

Speeches in front of JoeAnna's House

Kettle Popcorn for a donation for JoeAnna's House.

This home was built for families having to have their child in KGH.  There are bedrooms big enough to accommodate  several people, a huge kitchen, and laundry and shower areas.  A place where they are able to be a little more comfortable as they go back and forth to be with their sick children.

Live music as the line of people wait to get inside the house for a little tour through.

Waiting in line...

Looking through to the huge kitchen.

After the countdown the lights were turned on for the first time.

Time to Meet at OCC

We enjoyed a very nice Spotlight on Missions for this quarter for the beginning of Sabbath School this past week.

https://am.adventistmission.org/mission-spotlight

If you want to watch the one we watched this Sabbath, go to the November one.

Lesson groups to study Ezra and Nehemiah were both up in the sanctuary and downstairs in one classroom.
Thanks to the people who are willing to lead the lesson discussions each week.

Thank you, Doug.  Your illustrations are good for us to remember.

Thank you, Roland for being willing to lead this class study so many times.  It is good to have time for everyone to share what they studied during the past week.

The children are enjoying a Christmas story theme this month.  Loretta always has interesting stories and songs and crafts for the young ones.

Kid's Corner

Adults do the actions too for the Children's Song during Praise Time

Ken helps his wife with the Children's Story
It is always so wonderful to have children at OCC.  Story time here.

Ruthie shares a story about a little boy making pancakes for Daddy for breakfast...

Scripture Reading

Richard played for SS and then again for church special music.  Just about made Rich J shake for a minute when it was said he was having the special music... just a mix of last names... :)

Randy L brought us the sermon thoughts and they were very good for us to hear.

Sharing from his heart.

Thank you, Randy for sharing God's word.

Olga drops money in the baskets at Children's offering time.

Clean tablecloths... who does the laundry after each fellowship meal, ordinances,  special event?  There are many things in our church that are looked after with out us really noticing maybe. Stop and think and thank someone for what they do.
Jerrie Lou, Edith, Ruby, Olga, Bonnie, Myrna?

Refreshing!!!
Who plans the meals, who cleans up, who takes out the garbage and recycling, who does the dishes?
Rich, Arnie, Tom, Doug, Doyle, Pastor Josue?
Thanks someone for something they do to make things work well and we enjoy.

Thank you, Joel, for coming out every other Friday evening.  Your joy of music is catching.

Thank someone.

Nov 9th... at OCC Just Before Remembrance Day

Vicki planned the program this Sabbath and made it very meaningful by having two special videos between her talk.

And then this one about our Saviour...

Thank you, Vicki for the way you lead us to think about God in SS.

Beautiful tissue paper poppies made by Lori.

Dave, the up front leader this month.
We love to see the children at OCC.  So glad someone always is there to tell the story.

Thank you for the great story, Roland.  The red shirt and the waving were only part of the story... who was the captain of the boat was the other part.

What a beautiful special music she shared with us.  Thank you so much.

Thank you, Pastor Josue for bringing us sermons to ponder over.
Let's remember to pray for him as he begins his messages in Cuba.

Dolly walks softly in the sanctuary.  Can you find dolly?

Not the soup and salad part but part of the fellowship dinner.

 A November fellowship meal.

Just simple plain cucs.

Remembrance Poppy.

Recently turned 95 - seen here clapping for the children in the parade as they made their way past on the way back to the street.  Those medals looked heavy as he ended up taking off the sash that held them.

Let's not forget.
