News- Updates

 Good news...

I heard from Liza L.  that Chloe Rajah who was so very ill in Vancouver Hospital is out and improving at home.

Prayers are still needed as she recovers but everyone is so grateful for her being awake and able to get better now.

Also heard that the Rutland Silvertips Pathfinder Club won first place for the Canadian groups at the Pathfinder Bible Experience in Florida over this past week.

They memorized the Gospel of John.  Wonderful work.

Congrats to the boys and leaders.

Sabbath, April 22nd 2023

Orchard City church had the Sabbath School lesson discussion starting at 10 a.m.

Pastor Josue took the leadership of that this Sabbath.

After Mission Spotlight came the announcements from Tammy followed by The Kellerman Family leading the Praise Time.  They invited a guest saxophone player, Bob Rogers, to join them and it sounded very mellow and lovely.

Platform person, Tammy sharing information.

Denise sang beautifully.  The songs chosen were very good to sing again.

Thank you to Bob R for joining the team by playing the saxophone.  It was very nice to hear.

Always so great when we have children to help us all enjoy the children's song... this time it was  Praise Ye the Lord, Hallelujah with much getting up and down and smiling while singing out joyously.

Cherri had the children's story and read
beautiful  book.

Dave M had the Scripture and Prayer which was so nice to see him up front.

Denise, Todd and Joel sang and played "Precious Lord, Take My Hand".  It was very special.

The social committee had a tasty 🍝  meal following the service.

International Supper at OCS.

Last evening the school gym was full of good sights,  pleasant smells and happy people.

It was the International Supper event.

From 5 to 7 pm different grades or classrooms sold items from a certain country with tickets 🎟 bought as you entered the gym.

Tables set up in the center of the gym were full of people enjoying their purchases.

Students and parents or grandparents  friends or other relatives and teachers were  behind the tables or in the kitchen, giving the food or selling tickets at the door or making sure food was ready to serve.

Prettily decorated Romanian table.

Lori-Anne's class with the lovely English tea and scones with Devonshire cream....

So nice to have the students interact with people.  He said this was Turkish food... next year maybe they will sell Turkish delight!!

Hope the school did well with this fundraiser.   It was so good to see this tradition being carried on.

Back in 1977 the graduating class of that year started the First Annual International Supper.

As I was a member of that class I remember it well.

We were at the school, along with our sponsor's, on the floor in the science room painting signs to go behind the tables.

Before the event our class called people we knew who owned a business or were interested in helping, to donate most of the food.  One person donated German torte from a bakery,  others donated food supplies or money.  It was such a great success.

What a great feeling of accomplishment we felt.

May the 2023 students, teachers, parents and friends enjoy the rewards of their diligent work.

Pray For ~

If you are interested in praying for people who are in need of special prayer please think of these dear ones.

Chloe

Chloe is close to Bryn's age and Ryan Mann's and a friend to people in Terrace where she grew up and also to that age group at the academy as she went on a mission trip with OCS.

I have been asked to pray for her and invite you to join in as she is now starting to wake up and try to talk and heal.  I hear it will be a long journey yet but so thankful she is starting to improve.

Thank you for prayers for her.

She is married to Brenden Rajah.

Anyone who knows Chloe knows what an incredibly strong, kind and caring person she is. Right now Chloe needs to feel our love and support. She is currently in the ICU fighting a serious brain infection. We are in this for the long haul, focusing on small and steady steps. In a situation like this people often want to help, but do not know how. This GoFundMe gives you that opportunity. We don't know exactly what this journey is going to end up looking like and what it will entail. This allows us to ensure finances do not add to Brenden and Chloe's worries. Please give as you can and keep them in your prayers. We want to cover them with love near and far.

From the Go Fund Me project for Chloe but her friends.

Also this is another family to pray for at this sad time in their lives.

NOTICE: With heavy hearts we share the news that North American Division president G. Alexander Bryant and his wife Desiree have experienced a loss in their family with the passing of their middle son Traven. Please keep the Bryant family in prayer.

A memorial service will be held on April 6 in Springfield, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions given to the Traven Bryant Christian Education Scholarship Fund for the V. Lindsay Seventh-day Adventist School in Kansas.

The family appreciates your prayers during this most difficult time.

One more to pray for is Walter Wecker as he has been ill with GI issues going around the care home at this time.

He asked me yesterday to just pray for him as he is still not feeling good.

I know many of you care about the family church members who are not able to come out to church any more and lets fill their lives with our prayers.

I don't think Gladys B is sick right now but being in a care facility for months is very life changing and praying for her now is a good thing too.

If you know of any one needing our earnest prayers please let me know.

Thank you for caring.

Pathfinder Bible Experience Rutland church April 1st

People came to watch and listen to young boys between the ages of 11 to 13 sing and speak many chapters of the book of John from the Bible.

These children have been spending their Friday afternoons with their leader at her home having lunch then working on memorizing the chapters of John.

Each boy knows 2 chapters of his own plus two chapters for back up of someone else's chapters

One young girl, a sister of two of the boys, acted as Mary in the last of the program with  little acted out scene at the open tomb.

It was very enjoyable to watch and amazing to think of all those Bible words stored up in these young peoples minds now.

They are heading to Florida to be in a further challenge with other teams who made it this far.

Donations for the boys to get to Florida are being accepted happily.   Parents, I understand, must pay their own way.

A very nice vespers and so inspiring.

Sabbath Worshiping in Victoria. March 25th 2023

Interesting to see how others worship on Sabbath morning.
They meet in the school gym and sit at tables for the lesson study. And for church if you want or there were some rows of chairs near the front if people wanted to sit closer.
Then we also sat at the tables for lunch.

The leader at the group I sat with brought his dog to church.

One of the classrooms was the room for children's SS.
School bulletin board was nice to see.
A family of four and two more led the Praise Time.  Three of them also had special music.

They streamed the church service so that kept lots of people busy.

We happily joined in the haystack meal following the service.
Everything worked so smoothly and the gym was large enough for all the different parts of the church time.

taken by my daughter...

It was a joy so see so much spring on the island.
