Sabbath at OCC May 14th 2022

What a good discussion we enjoyed during the first part of our time together at OCC for the lesson.

The memory text for Lesson 7.  Can you think about what the two covenants God gave that were in this lesson...

After the lesson time we moved into the church service by singing together in Praise Time.

A great group leading together.

A quick little run over to Rutland church to hear this young man play his violin along with three other friends one also playing violin and one on the organ and the other on the piano.  What a wonderful treat to hear them play so well together.

Then back to OCC where Kim had already had her vocal solo but so glad Bonnie got a picture. Thank you to Kim for sharing her music.

So nice for Karen to be able to enjoy this with her little grandson.

OCC had a room full of children for Children's church and what a lovely, lively bunch.

Pastor Josue spoke to a room full of listeners in the sanctuary.

1 Corinthians 2:12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.

was the scripture as he spoke about  "Speaking In Plain Words".

A few more from the children's class...

If you don't understand the picture you can ask Cherri or Jamieson what it was about.

All I know is there he was excited to show me how it worked and he did not get his fingers wet... while Cherri told me about mushroom spores.  So interesting.

Again, we will have to ask if we want to know what this is about...

Thank you leaders of the Children's Class.

Green growth outside of the church building... spring is beautiful in so many ways.

So nice to see this happy smiling face.

Hope to see your smiling face this Sabbath.

At Bloom just outside of Armstrong, B.C.

So thankful for this OCC family member.

Send in some photos of your mum or dad or you and we will show your smiling faces on here too... we love to see family.

OCC on May 7th 2022

After Dave lead the lesson study on The Roots of Abraham,  Karen started Praise Time with the chorus "Jesus".

That was followed by Jerrie Lou sharing a story of being pushed out of the raft.

We must hang on and stay in the raft.

A couple of ladies spontaneously shared something from their hearts with us.

Then Bonnie shared the next part of the Health Nugget after a very short video.  WELLNESS...

We have heard about Water, Exercise, Live Temperately, and this Sabbath the L was for  Love. Healthiness comes as we Love God Love Others and Love Ourselves.

Lori made bookmarks with a Bible verse on the back and Edith and Gay handed them out along with a sheet of verses and remarks on Love.  Bonnie's enthusiasm and great ideas for sharing really make this an interesting part of the morning.

Offering is being shared at church again if you so desire to bring a gift.  Nice to have a young person included.

It was also very nice to have the bulletin in print once again.

Special music was a treat brought by Dianne W.  The words were so special.

Thank you, Dianne.

Then after prayer by Alex, he introduced the speaker who was Phil Brewer from Silver Hills.

( This is not a complete sermon but just a rough set of notes taken during the sermon... if there are parts you don't understand email the speaker maybe. )

The Bible verse for the sermon was  Psalm 8: 3 and 4

When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

Phil started with a story about a couple and their daughter from Germany who were looking for a place to stay for the night and thought the retreat might be available.
After a few little issues things were worked out for them to be able to stay over night and then a couple of days further making them get to know each other better and start a friendship.
After another one or two trips back to stay for the retreat they learned about Jesus and His great love for them and they became baptized and desired to follow the Lord in their lives.

In his home Phil stated, TV and the news went hand in hand. They heard all the news stories and things seemed to point to the end of the world coming.
What goes with the time of trouble?  Jesus coming.

Knowledge currently is increasing every 12 hours.
IA ... a computer can in some cases read an  x ray better then a Dr might.
Dr's can accomplish surgery in one state while the patient is in another state of the USA.
Think about this... Two scientists in Oxford in 1950 found that DNA is one cell exists for the whole body.  DNA is our code for our body.  We have 4 systems in a code not 2 like a computer.
If you find a Swiss watch in the woods... to you think it came together by happenstance?
No, it needs precision putting it all together.

We have choices.  David put it this way... What is man that thou art mindful of Him...

Moon and sun just move around perfectly.
Or a baby wraps a tiny finger around your finger... it is amazing.

What if we could make plants that grow on the moon?
Or make a peace treaty?
Would we try to save something if it went wrong?

Was a creature created with intelligence before?
Angels... including Lucifer.
He said,  I will ascent to the most high...
So there was war in Heaven.

Why would He try again with man?

What makes a human different then an angel?
Jacob answered that the human can create another person.
To learn to love... is why.
The foundation is learning to love.

Joseph story.   Joseph did very well until along came one King or pharaoh who does not remember him.
He was worried they would take over his people as they tried to keep the woman and girls and get rid of the little boys.

Moses story.  He was a beautiful child.
Every baby is beautiful.
She hid her pregnancy and then hid the baby after his birth.

When she could no longer hide the baby she put in in the reeds at the waters edge.  Mother will risk her life for her baby.
She places sister there to watch the baby.
Baby cried.
Pharaoh's daughter heard and wanted to keep the baby but the baby needed his mother.    Jocabed was called for.  In the next few years she endeavored to link her son's soul to Heaven.
Passing pleasure of sin for a season... Paul wrote.
Then Exodus 11 tells of how he killed a person because he became angry.
This human story does not turn out the way his mother wished and prayed for.  Like usual our human plans do not always turn out the way we planned.
But
80 years later Moses learned.
Did his mother know?
Did she know he had changed?
Ex 32:1 and verse 6
Then Moses returned to the Lord and asked God to forgive the people like this mother wanted to save him.
What a wonderful spirit in Moses now.
Moses learned to love.

Jesus had mothers follow Him.
They wanted Jesus to bless their little ones.

The way a little baby smiles at you before they sin... that is the Kingdom of Heaven right there.

Did Mary feel blessed when she gave birth in a stable?
Or by the other things that happened in her life with her precious Son?

Mother's are involved in this experience... no, not text book perfect.
Nothing worth saving in the universe as important.
Mother's Love.

Jesus asked John to look after His mum .
He loves us so much... it is worth it to Him.
We are worth saving.

Keep your joys and sorrows before God.  Nothing is too great for Him.  No perplexity too much for Him.

What is man without Him.

Sabbath April 30th at OCC

The lesson time was a very nice time studying and sharing about after the flood.
Titled, "All Nations and Babel" it had verses to read from Genesis 9 to Psalms and Luke and Matthew.

A very interesting topic to learn more about.

Beverly and Olga shared the Praise Time song leading and it was nice to hear them together.

Just before playing the harmonica, Richard explained how he can't quite choose the song he will play until he is ready to play and sees if it is a good fit.
This time he played Under His Wings.
Beverly told us the picture that forms in her imagination when she hears that piece, of a eagle gathering its babies in a stormy time.

Beverly had the children's story and told about the beauty of her flowering apricot tree.
While admiring the blossoms and moving closer for a smell of the prettiness she came eye to eye with a bee. She told a little of what the bee and its friends and family can do working together. Bees store pollen in a crop.  By flapping their wings they cool the nectar to make honey.  It is truly amazing all the ways God cares for us and provides for us.

photo from internet...

Loretta read the scripture for the sermon which was Revelation 14:6

Jud was so willing to come and share this sermon with us and I was so happy he was.
The title was, "To Every Nation, Kindred, Tongue and People".

Jud told us that 95 % of the population has never flown in a plane yet.  That leaves 5 % who do.  That is very surprising to think about.
In his flying with mission work he has had many kinds of reactions of someone new to flying and they are usually very excited or extremely fearful.
One lady needing a ride back to her home was so scared she asked Jud if she could hold his hand on the way home - then she would not be afraid.  To fly the plane a pilot might just need to use his/her hands so then she asked if she might be able to hold his arm which she did most of the way home until he needed his whole arm to land safely.

Chase the Lion is a book Jud likes to read from. It goes with the Bible verse 2 Samuel 23:20.

New International Version
Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant fighter from Kabzeel, performed great exploits. He struck down Moab’s two mightiest warriors. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion.
It is not just a nice catch phrase but we tend to stay away from the things that we are afraid of.
Another saying is No guts, no glory.
The book shares about letting God lead us. Have big dreams.

Are we scaredy cats of lion chasers?
What is your dream within?
Orville Wright's story is interesting as his dream was realized starting with him being sick.  Bedridden.

Jud then went to on tell about a few people who dared to dream big.  Much bigger then they could imagine accomplishing but they asked God to lead.

Macara and his wife dreamed of a school for the children near where they live in Cambodia.
They prayed and prayed and finally started a very small one in their own home.
Now his children are some of the teachers at the large school with 235 students.
The children help put on series of meetings to let others know the great love of God.
This couple treats the children to acts of love and the kids enjoy staying around the school when school is not on, helping to move desks or whatever needs to be done.
The school needs more work done so the dreaming has not stopped yet.

After the ones working on the metal work were done Jud went to town and got some fancy donuts with sprinkles for these hard workers to recognize their hard work.

They kids play hard too even in the mud and rain.

Miracle Air.

Norm and Nancy Hanson have a big dream.  They pray and pray for God's help as it is a huge dream.
They need God's help right now with their God-sized dream.

Everyone can pray along side of them on this dream in Nicaragua.

Then Jud had a disappointment and then a big dream.

Angel One.

I will try to put a video in here so come back later to see it.

Devine appointment at the Grandview church.  Jud had not been there for a long time but this Sabbath he was there and so was Trevor. Jud did not know Trevor but was noticing his airplane tie he wore.
They ended up chatting and Jud found out Trevor has worked for West Jet and the military.
Then he did not hear from Trevor for three months.
One day he called.
They got together and Jud's napkin sketch turned into an amazing production in Trevor's hands.
Now Trevor is the pilot of Angel One.
This was just at the start of the pandemic... the worst time OR the best time.  Grown out of an  impossible  situation to a God sized miracle.

Support SDA projects and just watch and see how dreams grow.

Thank you, Jud, for taking time to share with us in between your arriving home and leaving for the Philippines.
Lets be open to telling God our LionSized dreams and praying about them.

Another miracle story.

Jud's biggest supporter maybe... his dad.

The flowers this morning were in memory of Don Q who loved this church and our miracle working God.
It has been four years since we said Goodnight to DQ but we know he will be so gladden when he awakes to hear all the miracle stories you can share with him on that wonderful reunion.

Be that one in the crowd to stand out and stand up for God and His work on this earth.
