Scripture alphabet video

What a great thing to teach your small child. I think all of us could learn a verse for each letter of the alphabet too, don't you?

Listen to this little boy repeat the verses he has learned all summer.

Sabbath, June 6th, 2015 ~ Kevin McCarty having the sermon at OCC

I was disappointed to have to miss this morning at OCC.

Lori S. looked after the Sabbath School portion and she always does it very nicely.

The church service was presented by Kevin McCarty.
Kevin graduated from OKAA a few years ago and is back in Kelowna for the summer.

Thank you to Beverly for sharing the picture so the ones of us who missed it can at least have a little look at the illustrations Kevin shared about the Holy Spirit.

Video Wednesday: Typewriter Artist

I am continually amazed at the skill and creativity of people. I love how this man found a way to show the world his talent, and I love his can-do attitude, too.

As someone in the video says, "His joy in life is finding ways to be creative. I think he sees it as being part of why he's on earth, why we're on earth."

What a beautiful way to sum up this typewriter artist's creativity and life philosophy.

My favourite quote from this video is:
[Narrator] "When someone says, 'I could never do that,' Paul answers, 'What can you do?'"

Thank you, Glenda, for sharing this video with us, and reminding us that we can all do something to honour God.

Sabbath of September 6th, 2014

Today we had a special person come to sing for our church service time.
He sang so well and we sure did enjoy hearing him. Thank you so much!!

Then David Jurek had our sermon and told about when he and his wife, Alicia, went to Haiti to work with Project 7 there.
He showed pictures taken during this time of the children living in the homes there and of the gardens and building projects.
In the end there was a tug at the heart to pray for 7 minutes a day, give $7 dollars a week, and share with 7 people about the project.

Talking about Haiti and Project 7.

You may read about Project 7 at NewRealityInternational.org.

Thank you so much for the words and photos you shared with us, David and Alicia.
God bless this project and these children.

It is good to know that David posted on his FB page this past week that a container of goods is now on its way to Haiti from Kelowna.

As we walked in and out of the sanctuary this Sabbath another beautiful and unique arrangement by Carol was enjoyed.
Thank you for making our church more visually appealing.

Orchard City SDA Church on April 26th, 2014

Each week different things take place at OCC SDA Church.
It is always interesting and this week was no exception.

Alysia C, Rhonda R, and Sara S, teachers at OKAA, led their students in songs, plays, the children's story, a voice choir, and Bible verses.
We were very thankful and happy that they came and were so enthusiastic to have the church service.
These students were from grades 3-7.

Here are some photos for you to see some of the things they did last Sabbath morning.

We still all really like this sign.
A story with Shannon.
Kids just love these.
Waiting in the sunshine.
A moose to colour.
Walter leading out in one Sabbath School class.
Rhonda R. sharing what good things we will experience this morning.
Leading the Praise Time
He played the hymn so well while we sang - "In the Sweet By and By"
Students in the boat.
Acting out the Jonah story for Children's Story Time
During the children's story.
Doing his part.
Children's offering time.
Doing their best, happily.
No one was hurt in the acting of this play.
All part of the play.
Almost ready for taking a bow.
Singing "Lean on Him."
Glad she came to OCC today. It was nice to see her whole family there including her sweet, little baby brother.
Nature's beauty right by the outdoor steps.

Thank you so much for coming to OCC and having our church service!
It was a lovely, lively morning.

Video Wednesday: I Am Second - Scott Hamilton

During the past few months we have neglected this feature on our blog as other, more important things have taken our attention away. But it's time now to return to this mid-week inspiration. To gain strength from the words that others have to say. To learn from the stories of their lives. To grow in our own relationship with God because of their testimonies.

Today's Video Wednesday features former Olympian Scott Hamilton. I hope you are blessed by his story.

After listening to Scott's story I was so impressed with the I am Second campaign, and I looked it up to learn more about it. Here's what I found:
I am Second is a movement meant to inspire people of all kinds to live for God and for others. Actors. Athletes. Musicians. Business leaders. Drug addicts. Your next-door neighbor. People like you. The authentic stories on iamsecond.com provide insight into dealing with typical struggles of everyday living. These are stories that give hope to the lonely and the hurting, help from destructive lifestyles, and inspiration to the unfulfilled. You’ll discover people who’ve tried to go it alone and have failed. Find the hope, peace, and fulfillment they found. Be Second. ... I am Second is designed to help people discover their purpose in life. Have you discovered yours?
These videos are well-made, heartfelt, and inspiring. Perfect for our Video Wednesday feature! You will definitely be seeing more of them in the near future.

Video Wednesday: A Transformation

I saw this video and just loved how Dégagé Ministries is helping homeless veterans get back on track and live full and abundant lives. Their mission is to reflect the love of Christ to all who come through their doors by building relationships and offering programs that foster dignity and respect. This type of help is just one of the many ways we can serve those around us.

This video reminds me of the words of Christ where He says, "Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me." Matt. 25:40 CEV

What can we do for others today?
