Friends From Years Ago

Mikey O. messaged me the other day telling me about this couple and their needs.  I put in a call to our Pastor and after he told me he thought it would be all right to do I am sharing this need with you and pray your hearts will be touched in a caring way.

Delroy Carnegie has spent many years teaching at the SDA school in Alajuela, Costa Rica near the San Jose airport.

A group of us ( Mikey is explaining here) became friends with the Carnegie Family while we were there in Costa Rica building a church with the Okanagan Academy students many years ago.

Now, due to Covid, the students in Costa Rica are not allowed to attend school so therefore Delroy has not been able to work for the last many months.

They do not have unemployment or Covid relief benefits available.

Delroy and Margarita called us in humble desperation asking if we could help them in any way or they might be out on the street soon.

Mikey has not seen them in 20 years and only spoken with them on a few occasions after they met in Costa Rica.  She believes he is a Christ centered man dedicated to the SDA church and school.

If you feel the desire to help this family they would really appreciate it.

Thank you for reading this.

If you want to contribute any amount please contact Mikey at her email address... tower1836@gmail.com

This is not going through the church as no receipts will be issued.  It is just a love gift.

Happy Little Girl

Mikey shared this photo of the little girl who received the little purple quilt made by Jerrie Lou, Loretta and Mikey.

It is sure great to see her smile no matter her situation.

Thanks for praying for 5 year old Alysha.

New Quilt for 5 Year Old

When someone invites me to come and take a few photos I am very excited to do so.

Mikey O messaged me to see if I wanted to share a few photos with OCC friends on this project and I was happy for the invite.

Through her daughter, Kristy, Mikey had heard of a little girl who will be getting a kidney transplant in Toronto soon.

She shared the interview that was online and it was sweet to hear the mum talking but it was sad too.  This five year old, who has a twin brother, will get a kidney from her mother who is a good match.

The young girl named the kidneys Elsa and Anna.

Three ladies got busy and put together this lovely little purple quilt to send to Calgary for this little girl.

I was amazed how quickly they put this really lovely quilt together.

Have a look and see!!

Thank you for your kind, caring hearts ladies.  One little girl will be very happy to receive this.

Front Porch Friends - 13

Another friend...

Gay stopped by to take a few photos of the photoperson... thank you.

Specially coloured sunset.
A little different direction.
DQ and I wanted to have a breakfast one Sabbath and so with help from Dave E and maybe a few others
we had a very nice breakfast time and also a little home warming time for Karenda.
Brothers both sit on Don's knee... Don was so happy for the friendship of these little boys.
Just in February 2018... seems so short a time ago and also so long ago.
Almost all of our lively crew... Jonathan made it a short time later. How I love this family.
How important you are for them too. Thank you for all the prayers.

Thanks for inviting me to your front door or yard.
When I return we might add a few more.

Thanks for all the care.

Front Porch Friends - 12

I went for a little drive on a nice rainy day which turned sunny.

Jill was waiting for me and it was really nice to visit with her.
She lives in Vernon now but it would be so nice to have Jill at OCC again.

She has such interesting things happening where she lives and her family has expanded by two girls and two boy grandchildren.

Here is the way we were able to have a Front Porch visit and photo.

Hi Jill!! Your smile is radiant!
Jill sat inside the window with it open and she talked through the screen.
The sign says to chat and blow kisses... no kisses to be on the safe side but it was a nice arrangement.
The chair was to be far enough back and at an angle to the window.

See the beautiful blue sky!!! The rain is gone. The building is a bustling place but sounded like a happy place.
Thanks so very much for saying you would be part of our Front Porch series.
It was great to see you and visit!
Added bonus on the way home.
Two week old goosey.
