The title of the program was Mystery Mother's and featured Guest 1- Fanny Crosby.
Opening Song was one of hers - To God Be the Glory.
Next was Mystery Guest 2 and that was Susanna Wesley. She had 19 children and spend one hour a week alone with each one. She taught her children scripture and trained them in discipline of the Christian life.
Prayer followed.
Then was our Mystery Guest 3. She was editor of the Sabbath School Worker for 32 years and did a lot of other good things for our Sabbath Schools. She was L. Flora Plummer.
We watched a short video of Spotlight on Missions and then had the 4th and final Mystery Guest.
This guest was Anna Jarvis, founder of Mother's Day. Woodrow Wilson declared Mother's Day a national holiday in 1914. Anna Jarvis began the custom of giving mothers a carnation to wear on Mother's Day. The first Mother's Day was held on May 10th, 1908 in Grafton, West Virginia to honour her own Mother.
Two young girls handed out pink and cream carnations or pink tulips to all the women in our church.
We all enjoy our Praise Time and especially the song for the children.
The song " I have Joy Like a Fountain" was a good action song and it seemed like everyone enjoyed singing it.
Thelma had the children's story and then the sermon. Denise sang two song and they fit the sermon's words so well. We appreciated Thelma asking her to sing during the sermon.
Life stories and personal testimonies are very powerful.
Thank you so much for sharing, Thelma. Thank you so much too, Denise.
What a beautiful Sabbath day at Orchard City SDA Church!
How beautiful it was to hear Denise sing with those two accompanying her.
What a lovely day you all had, in every way!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with beautiful pictures.
It was a beautiful day and a beautiful service - thank you. I enjoy your photos Glenda!! And I love the quiet beauty of "Druitt pond". :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful Mother's Day Sabbath School and a great church service. I especially found the story about the mother with 19 children and spending time with each one of them alone each week inspiring! If she could do that for all her children, I think most of us could spend some special time with a few people each week. Thanks for sharing and, as always, thanks for the wonderful pictures!
