So Long, Sylvia...

We will miss our friend, Sylvia, in our Orchard City SDA Church.

Her smile will be seen in our remembrances now.

Sylvia added to our church family with a lot of talent. She was the lead bulletin secretary for many years and enjoyed taking computer classes to learn how to do more to make the bulletin pretty and neat.

She also really enjoyed the power point projects for our services. Sylvia spent time and enjoyed finding just the right pictures to have for sermons for people, Sabbath Schools she led out in, or for the highlights of the church service order, such as Praise Time, Children's Story, Offering, etc.

Sylvia helped out with VBS for many years, and one area she looked after was the crafts. She also took on the responsibility of advertising and changing the big signs for outdoors.

Sylvia was leader of the social committee for many terms and enjoyed getting us out as a group for games and fun. She enjoyed coming to Sunshine Bands and telling stories there, too. She loved hikes and rock collecting. She had many interesting interests.

There are many other ways Sylvia worked in our church but for now she was really looking forward to seeing the pews reupholstered and the flooring changed and walls painted. She put time and effort into the decorating committee and was able to see the pews get started with the change.

Sylvia wanted us all to know just how much she loved her two sons and their wives and families.
She talked with me (Glenda) about how much she wanted us to know her children and grandchildren for their lovely personalities and how kind and caring their were to her.

Lou will miss Sylvia very much as will her family, siblings, and other relatives.

It will be a joyful reunion in Heaven one day.

    3. Beautifully done Glenda - thank you!!! A fitting tribute to one who gave so much to 'the little church by the pond' (OCC) which she loved dearly. She did so much for so many of us and the 'essence' of her is throughout our church. There are reminders everywhere of her generous heart and soul. May she rest in peace until we are reunited.

  6. Glenda, Thank you so much for this tribute and especially the photos! This is so meaningful for those of us who knew Sylvia but didn't get to see her over the past years. About 3 years ago Vicki & I had a part in a musical vespers at Rutland Church. After the program Sylvia came up to say hi and mentioned she had cancer. I felt like she came up to say goodbye. I appreciate and treasure those few minutes of reconnecting. The friendships from school days are lasting and meaningful. Sylvia was always a friendly person and she was very proud of her sons. I would imagine that any grandchildren were precious to her too! It's goodbye for now but I look forward to seeing Sylvia again before too long. Sincere sympathies to Lou and to all Sylvia's family!
