VBS Sabbath at OCC

Shipwrecked was the VBS program for this summer and I think every one really enjoyed it.

We learned that Jesus Rescues.

Children came to the church by 9 a.m. for the lively singing time and sharing time on the topic of the day.

Doing the Jesus Rescues sign.

Listening for the children's response.  They sure did know how to say the right phrases.

Fist bump for part of the song.

It was so nice to see our church so full of boys and girls and grown ups too.

Shannon lead the group and we all enjoyed her enthusiasm and cheer.

Once the first half hour was finished the children divided into two groups for the activities.

Cherri involved the children at her station called Imagination Station.  Science facts and experiments were shared here.

Listening is important and these children did quite a fine job of it.

Another station was by the pond where Chris and Madison and Karissa got the children involved in games and one day even a water fight.

The teens got everyone involved and kept them happy by the pond.

The days were hot but the children had fun.

Relay Races were fun.

Back up at the church a room was set up for the Bible story of the day and Pastor Jim Weir and Pastor Josue Molina kept every ones  interest by including them as the story was told.

Karenda's station was the Kid Vid with a short video for each day to go along with the lesson.  Here the children also got the keeper memory verse of the day to go on their own caribiners for collecting the whole set.

I think that all 50 sets were gone by the weeks end.

Oops... forgot that snack came in the middle of the morning with all of the children joining together for specially made food to also go along with the Bible story and point of the day.
They were creative snacks and disappeared quickly.   Edith, Ruby and Jerrie Lou were the ones in place to help get these ready for the hungry children.

The children got to sit on lovely coloured and patterned quilts brought by Cherri and Jerrie Lou.

For the last 30 minutes the children came back upstairs for the closing time of fun songs, interesting experiments and taking turns patching the sail on the raft.

It takes a lot of work to put on a well run VBS but with the team at OCC we enjoy helping out each year and seeing the returning young people and the new ones that join in.

Next year you should come and help and see how much fun we have together!

On Friday at noon the parents were invited to come for watermelon and it seemed like everyone enjoyed the cold sweet fruit.

Then on Sabbath the families who could make it brought their children for the Praise Time at church and they sang some of the favourite songs and showed a few experiments that they had enjoyed during the week.

It did work when the air was heated enough and the egg did go down into the jar.

Roland lead us in prayer for the church service.

Pastor Bob taking the place of Head Elder and doing it with a grin. We all love him.

Pastor Josue had his first sermon as our Pastor this weekend. We are enjoying getting to know him better each time we get together.

After the service it is time for mingling and greeting each other. Arnie takes some time to chat with Pastor Josue.
Look for something good in your week and share it sometime.
