Sabbath, September 28th, 2013

Sabbath School at OCC featured Bible verses about Hospitality - Lori S was the superintendent this week. People shared short stories of times they were impressed with kind hospitality.

I think Lori made the bookmarks with the Bible verses on them for us to read out loud.
The little ones were to have a surprise visit from this birthday gift kitty
(I was told it was Keith's birthday gift), but some of us got a little peek first. Isn't this a pretty kitty?
Alexander got to hold the kitty.
Children's time up front.
Communion Sabbath.
The Pastor had a short talk titled, "Till He Come." There were three questions in it. The Bible text was 2 Peter 3:9-13.
1) How will He come?
2) When will He come?
3) Why will He come?
Ask the Pastor for further explanation if you were not there to hear about these three questions.

Jesus loves you!

The Pastor joins B watching the animal pictures on Carol's computer for children's story.
They all really enjoyed it. Thanks, Carol.
Collecting the special offering.
We all enjoy watching the little ones do their part in the service.
Roses from Carol.
Such a beautiful arrangement for all of us to enjoy.
Shannon plays this flute beautifully too. It sounded lower then her regular flute.
Foot washing table arranged by the deacons for the men to participate.
The ladies area is ready too.
Next week is the start of the new quarter...so remember to pick up a new lesson study guide.
Join us for Sabbath School Bible study time at 9:30 a.m.
Lunch looks inviting.
Lunch looks tasty.
Almost tall enough.
It is calm and serene by the pond.

Sabbath School was lead by Glenda Q. and Don told a story from a new book.
We enjoyed a Mission Spotlight video telling us about each of the three mission projects for this 13th Sabbath offering.

Alex taught the upstairs class and Gay helped him write on the white board to illustrate the lesson.

Dave B. singing special music

An Idea!

Memory Text: “ ‘Then hear in heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause’ ” (1 Kings 8:49, NKJV).

NLB - Then hear their prayers and their petition from heaven where you live, and uphold their cause.

Do you want to join in on memorizing the Bible Memory Texts each week for this quarter?
It might be fun and good to try.

I will post them and then we will see how we did at the end of the quarter. This one is not too long.

Video Wednesday: A True Picture of Love

I was reading an acquaintance's blog last week. She was writing that she and her husband have recently started a new habit in their home: getting up early in the morning, before the baby wakes up, to have morning devotions together. She mentioned what a blessing it's been for them, and how those little devotionals they've been reading have turned out to be just the thing that someone they meet throughout the day needs to hear. At the end of her post she shared the video below, and said that after she and her husband watched it together, her husband said, "What a wonderful analogy of how Christ carries us."

My acquaintance wrote a beautiful response to the video. I am going to add it below because I think it's perfect and I love what she wrote.
This woman carried her husband, who probably weighs more than she does, even without legs. He is “imperfect,” “damaged goods,” “not whole.” But he is hers. She loves him in spite of what he doesn’t have. And she carried him. It probably wasn’t the first time, and it probably won’t be the last time.
We are imperfect, damaged, and by no means whole. And we have no hope of being perfect. But in God’s eyes, we are worth it. We are His. He loves us unconditionally, and He will carry us through life until that Wonderful Day when we can finally stand and walk with our own two perfect feet.   ~ This New House blog
What else is there to say? Just beautiful!
