Sabbath, April 13th, 2013

Orchard City was happy to have a very interesting visitor to talk to us at Sabbath School time. Karen Wickwire had asked the week before if we would like to have their co-worker from Guyana share some experiences. Of course we would!!

We had been giving a special offering to the Guyana project during the time Jud and Karen Wickwire were there. We wanted to hear from Laura LaBore!!

Jud Wickwire introduces Laura LaBore to the Orchard City congregation.
She flew the planes in Guyana with Jud and still flies now that he is back in Canada.
Laura is so happy and full of life and energy. She shared many interesting photos and stories with us of her work among the people and how the flights they give people are so meaningful to them, usually meaning the difference between life or death.
Thank you, Karen, for sharing your time with your friend. Laura was being honoured at PUC the next week as Alumni of the Year.

Children's song time
"Day by Day" is Pastor Manuel Silva's favourite hymn and it helps him get through each trying day with cancer.
The B.C. Conference asked each church if on this Sabbath they would sing this hymn and have a special prayer for Pastor Silva and his family.
Orchard City Church stands together to sing the words of this loved hymn.
Pastor Bob Tetz joins us all together while he prays a special heartfelt prayer for Pastor Manuel.
Mini sermon for the children
The adults got something from the story, too.
Sermon for the morning was "Giving or Taking."
Scripture was Luke 18:18-23.
Tithing is a good thing to remind us all about.
Seth and Cindy enjoy the story Pastor Bob tells about apples and how to enjoy most of them.
What happens to the tenth apple?
Is he eating the apple?
Do we eat all the apples that God has given us and give him back just the core?
We all enjoy participating in the children's offering time.
Little Seth cheerfully helps, too.
So nice to see mummy and daddy singing along with their little daughter for special music time!
She sang so sweetly and willingly -- "Oh, Fill It Up"
and then "Jesus Loves the Little Ones"
Two happy children eating the apples from Pastor Bob.
