The Franks Family Mission Trip

Julie Franks sent in some pictures and commentary of her family's mission trip they took to Jamaica in December.

Welcome sign when we got there
The compound where we stayed
Bonnie showing the kitchen stove
A writing on a house wall...
The roads... were a little crazy, but it was very pretty
The bus we drove in while we were there. We had a church member drive the bus for us.
We walked partway to the church/school because of this from Hurricane Sandy
The outside view of the church/school
The church/school inside before the project. It was fairly dusty so Linda is with a bucket keeping the dust down.
Sweeping up all the mess over and over again.
We sanded and sanded
And then we painted...
...and painted...
...and painted...
...and painted and did some tile
In the mornings we did VBS
Singing, crafts and skits
Finished product
Church Sabbath Day!
Us at the falls having fun :)

Thanks, Julie, for sharing these great pictures of your trip!

Volunteer Dentistry

While posting some new blogs on here, I found this draft that we never published from back last year while Tyler was in Guyana with the Wings for Humanity team. (Sorry for not posting it earlier, Tyler!)

Hope you enjoy the video, despite it's belated posting!

New Grampa

Edith and Jim M. just returned from a good visit with their son, daughter-in-law and new granddaughter.

Edith shared a picture she took of Jim with little Hadley Mae.

So precious!
Thank you for sharing this, Edith.

Happy Sabbath ~ February 2nd, 2013

Welcome to Orchard City Seventh Day Adventist Church on the first Sabbath in February.

It was a foggy day to begin with, but as we drove into our church parking lot the sunshine started to brighten up the landscape.

It is so good to have deacons who keep our place safe. This morning some were out trying to get rid of the slick spots.
Thank you Arnie S. and David B.

The new Kid's Korner is ready to have the children in it today.
Have a peek at how beautiful it looks. It is inviting.
Thanks to Nancy and Bob, Heidi and Keith for their vision.
Thanks also to Lou B. for the painting he did to freshen up the room.
Keith laid the new flooring and a host of people - the leaders, parents, grandparents and friends in Kid's Korner - moved furniture and did cleaning to get this room all ready for this Sabbath.
Isn't it great?!
Thanks for taking some of the pictures, Gay M.

Gay took a few pictures of the different classes studying the Bible together.
Julie with the older children in their newly renovated room
A happy bunch in this adult class
Glenda Q. starting discussion with the class upstairs on Creation and Morality.
They are such a great group of Bible students and the discussion is always lively.
A favourite children's song - "My God is So Great, So Strong and So Mighty."
Brooklyn enjoys this song
Paul tells a very interesting story for the children about a moose that thought it was a horse. We all enjoyed hearing it.
Children collecting the Children's Offering after the story
Diane is feeling much better so this week she can bring us the special music.
Thank you for coming to our church and sharing your music with us.
Sylvia stepped in for Dino, who was ill, and read the Scripture verse for us. It was John 16: 23 and 24.
Bob W. had different friends come up and share stories about God working in their lives.
His title for his talk was "Is God Strong Enough."
Eldon, Beverly, Keith, Diane, Pat, Nancy, and Olga all had very interesting stories and/or quotes or Bible verses to share.
Since it was so slick people went to the aid of a slipping car. So many helpful people around OCC.
Come and join us at 9:15 a.m. (Praise Time) and at 9:30 a.m. (for Sabbath School) on February 9th as Suzanne P, from Interior Health, comes to share about how we can help homeless or needy people around our own city.
She invites us to have questions in mind so we can ask at the end of her talk.
