Welcome to Orchard City SDA Church ~ First Sabbath in 2016

January 2, 2016

Dave E. had our first 2016 Sabbath School and talked about our resolutions and how we will think about our new slate or page starting. People shared their ideas and joined in on the discussion.

Then we went into our Sabbath School lesson time and Glenda lead upstairs and Lori lead downstairs.

We discussed, "Crisis in Heaven" and about good choices different Bible characters made.

New lesson quarterly for this new year.

The children came in from their Sabbath School and then we had Praise Time with Karen and Sharlet and a few little helpers, too.

Singing "Oh, When the Saints, Go Marching In"
A nice row of singers.
So nice to have Sharlet and her littles help lead the Praise Time.
Mr. L. always has a very interesting story from nature to tell the children.
Looking at the poor tail-less fox.
Mr. L. shows a picture of a fox he took. He asked us all to be very kind to animals as they are God's special creation.
Children's offering being taken up.
Our team of speakers for this Sabbath who were ready quickly as our speaker for the day had to be somewhere else.
They were meaningful little talks and some tears of joy fell from more than one set of eyes.
Thank God for His timing and continual care.
So nice to see our friends after church is over.
These two were sharing a lot of smiles.

Special Friday Evening Agape Feast

It was a very special time on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Orchard City SDA Church.

Doug and Liza, with several helpers, arranged an Agape Feast to celebrate this time of year and the meaning of Jesus coming to earth to die for us, and also to celebrate His resurrection and return to Heaven.

The tables were set in the shape of a cross and were dotted with red poinsettia and candles, providing warm light.

Keith played the guitar and Bob and Heidi lead us in some favourite hymns.

After a time of sharing - something we liked about another person around the table - we went to the different rooms to have the foot washing remembrance.

Once back at the tables we had prayer and eating of the emblems which were made differently and in different quantities then usual. It was all very pretty to see and interesting to hear.

There was more sharing - and then a simple meal of dried fruit, fresh grapes and oranges, homemade breads, nuts, and more grape juice.

The warmth and caring flowed between each person there and the peace and calm in our little church was something we could carry home with us.

Goblets of grape juice
Pastor Bob shared this photo of his of us all gathered around the table.
In the candle light
"Take, eat, this is My body, broken for you."
Such cheery flowers to have along the center of the table.
Beauty in the candle light.
Praying for each other.
