Memorial for Walter Wecker

 The sad day arrived and Walter Wecker's journey ended May 3rd at 10:32 a.m. 

Such a well loved man who worked hard and enjoyed working in the garden as well as with wood. 

He had really been trying to make it to 100 years but was just 5 months short of that goal.

Vicki played the piano and we were grateful for her being willing. 

Grandson, Nathan wrote and presented the Life Sketch. 

It was so well done. 

Jonathan, Bryn, Lauren, Alison and Camden played and sang  

For God So Loved Us... An old German song our parents taught us long ago. 

Our cousin from New Brunswick, flew here so quickly at our request to take the service.  He is conference president of the Maritime Conference so he made a few changes to his schedule so he could be here with us. 

We so appreciated his kindness, words of hope and his kindness. 

Great grandchildren of Walter's passed out wrapped candy at the church where Walter gave out many candies in the past. 

Good friends, Bruce and Loma Boyd sang a song Dad had requested for this day... Someday the Silver Cord Will Break... So very meaningful to have them here. 

Good friend, Kira, made these special cupcakes with the tiny tools on them for honouring my dad. 

The service was held at Orchard City SDA church on May 9th 2024. 

This church building was one he worked on and put a lot of time into and cared about so much. 

Many people remember Walter as a greeter at Orchard City commenting about his big warm hands ready to grasp someone's hand as they came into the church, in greeting.  He enjoyed that place at the back by the door welcoming people and remembering their names for the next time he saw them. 

He enjoyed the children too and usually had wrapped candies in his pocket to give them as they entered the church. 

Walter could be seen sharing a candy or two with the adults too but tried to keep the sound of the wrappers to a minimum and made sure the wrappers went into the garbage and not on the seat or the floor. 

After a lovely garden full of produce he could be seen sharing bags of cucumbers and tomatoes with church friends or neighbours.  He was generous with helping people ( his family knows this ) and with paying for things.  He enjoyed being the one to take the bill after a restaurant meal and paying for it all more then he might have enjoyed the meal. 

I think we all will miss Walter as he now rests and waits for Jesus to return to wake up the ones that love Him.

Happy days in Rome and in France.   Don took us on a whirlwind trip... ten countries in ten days. 

Walter just so much loved his Orchard City friends and really enjoyed coming to church when he could and appreciated so much the visits he got in his home and in KGH and in the care home.

Thank you all so so much for your care of our dad. 

Such good good friends and family he had and enjoyed.
