Covey's Last Sabbath at OCC - January 5th, 2013

We will miss Mr. and Mrs. Covey so much at Orchard City SDA Church!!

Marguerite and Quentin Covey spent Sabbath, January 5th with us at Orchard City, much as they have almost every other Sabbath in the last 15 years since they moved to Kelowna from Nova Scotia.
They were given a long-stemmed rose each in Sabbath School, as they were such wonderful SS members. They were there on time and in their pew each week unless they were away or sick.
What a wonderful example they are to us.
Everyone will miss them so much as they go to make their home in Williams Lake, B.C. close to where their daughter and son-in-law live.

When they come back to visit we will receive them warmly and ask God to bless them in their new location.

December 30th, 2012

This was the last Sabbath of the year.

I was not well this Sabbath and so Don took a few pictures of the Sabbath for me on his little camera.  He missed the one of John and Teri Reeve having the lesson study for everyone upstairs. I wish I could have been there to hear their talk and see them. I am sure everyone enjoyed their presentation. John and Teri came to Kelowna from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan to visit her parents, Roland and Carol Stickle. They have great knowledge of Biblical subjects and we appreciated them sharing in Orchard City SDA church.

Sylvia tells the interesting children's story
Sylvia always has something to illustrate her story with
She is here from Australia with her mummy, daddy and little brother,

Thank you, David, for sharing your musical talents with the church members at OCC.

Thanks for taking the photos of this week for us, Don.

Christmas Program at OCC

Our morning started with Sabbath School lesson study lead by Don Q. He had everyone involved in reading Bible texts and then figuring out where each one came in the time line. It was good for our brains to think it all through in that manner.

Alex shares a Bible verse
Arnie takes his turn
Roland and several others share in the reading of verses
Paul helps place events in the right order
Ruby reads
Eldon and Lou help Don out in the lesson study time

The church program began with some songs by the children in Kids Korner and some other numbers and an offering taken up by the children.

For the next part of the program Lori S. directed a skit she wrote entitled "Starlight Diner." She asked members of OCC to take parts for our Christmas program on December 22nd, 2012.

It was a stormy night on the highway and the Starlight Diner had room for many travellers forced to stop by the snow. Goldie and Frank ran the diner and their cat Myrtle was in the story, too. So the story unfolded and musicians sang and played. All of us enjoyed the play.
