Valentine's Day Sabbath - February 14th, 2015

The sun shone on Sabbath and warmed the day.
There were many smiles inside the church and warmth there, too.

Here are a few photos to let you peek in on our services.

The sign greets us as we arrive at Orchard City SDA Church.
Kid's Corner is a happy, busy place. These little butterflies flew out and over to the main church building it seems like!!
"Peter and John Went to Pray" is the children's song this time. It is great action song.
Sylvia told the children's story - starting with pictures of zoo animals.
Pretty, shiny pieces might attract us, just like it did for the monkeys, but this was a way for the monkey to get captured.
We need to be mindful to not fall into a trap.
Beverly's talk used the Bible verses John 15:12 & 13 and also 1 Corinthians 13:13 to show about God's love.

Here is a summary of Beverly's sermon:

Valentine’s Day "Love and Relationships"
Valentine's Day had its origin in the 18th Century – a time when lovers expressed their love through gifts, confectioneries and cards, 'Valentine's.' As Christians we focus on God’s amazing love and His amazing gift for each of us in the form of His Son whose gift to us was His life. John 15:13, "Greater love hath no man than this…"

We spoke about the love between couples young and old, the special bond within families, between friends and siblings, and across generations, the things we can learn from God’s creatures, their bond one to another and their friendship and loyalty to man.
We are all ultimately special to Him.

Beverly had three groups talk during the sermon. First, Angela and Doyle spoke on relationships from a couple's point of view. Next, Don and Glenda spoke on relationships from a family's point of view. And finally, Aase spoke on a relationships from a grandmother's point of view, and talked about her relationship with her grandchildren.

Grandchildren bring such joy to a family.
1 Cor. 13:13 speaks of Faith, Hope, and Love, "...but the greatest of these is Love."
Thank you, Beverly, for a great sermon that went so well with Valentine's Day!

A special Valentine in the Bible - John 3:16.
Lovely red ribbon and flowers for February. Thank you, Linda.
