Royce is an excellent speaker. |
Psalm 10:4, Obadiah 3, Hosea 7:10, Amos 6:8, Proverbs 21:4, Proverbs 13:10, Proverbs 10:2 and Proverbs 11:2One key line in his sermon was, "Pride gets you down and keeps you down. It is the ultimate barrier between God and man, and between people." Royce shared the stories in Luke 15 about the lost sheep, lost coin, and mostly the lost son. The father had no pride to receive his son back to the household in full. Royce also shared thoughts from chapter 71 of The Desire of Ages about Jesus great humility, and left us with the question, "Who did wash Jesus' feet?" The final Bible verse was Matthew 11: 28, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
So nice to have 'our' family back up for the praise hymn to end the service. Thank you! |

It’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day and I figured I should, like countless other bloggers, post something about it. The post will be short and it will have absolutely nothing about racism. Instead this day draws my thoughts elsewhere, it draws my thoughts to love. Namely love that has been shown to me. The selfless love people have shown me in the past months has been amazing to say the least. On this day I just have to pause and say thank you to all the amazing people who have reached out to me. Just knowing that people care about me and how I’m doing is amazing. I am truly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.
I think we underestimate the power of just showing an interest in someone else’s life. Many people may not have physical disorders or diseases but we all have emotional hurts. On this day, I challenge myself and everyone else to make an effort to genuinely show an interest in others lives. If we would decide every day to show others that we genuinely care, this world would be a much better place. By showing we care, we come closer to Reverend King's dream. We may not be breaking down social barriers, but we are breaking down emotional barriers. And there is a very simple solution to how to break down those barriers. Love. It’s as simple as that. So how about we actually start expressing that we love one another. The first step in that expression is to show others that you genuinely care about them. I know I have been changed by the amount of love people have shown me. I can’t live my life like I did before. Self-absorbed, selfish, with the occasional act of caring. No I have to start genuinely caring about others. I am going to make this first step. Will you join me?Please keep Christopher Shaw in your prayers as the doctors keep testing for what is making him have spasms and pain.
