Sabbath January 26th, 2013 at OCC

Just a few pictures of this Sabbath.

Doug F, Julie, and Jeff shared some of their experiences they had the week before Christmas while they were on a short term mission trip to Jamaica.

It was so interesting to hear about VBS and the many children that came for it.  Jeff told about the flooring and about the different approach to applying it.
Doug told about the people in this area and the wishes they had for fixing some problems in their area.

Jeff, Doug, and Julie share stories from their time in Jamaica in December, 2012
Telling about the flooring work and painting of the church
Carol brought this beautiful spring plant bowl, that was given to her, to church to share its prettiness with all of us
The Kartik family lead us in a happy praise time between services. So nice to have the children up front!

Royce Odiyar came to have our sermon this week. His talk was entitled "The Ultimate Barrier," and his main text from the Bible was Psalm 11:2.
Leading us in prayer
Energetic preacher
Royce is an excellent speaker.
Royce talked about the many ways we can have pride build up barriers in our lives. Here are a few of the Bible verses he had us look up and read:
Psalm 10:4, Obadiah 3, Hosea 7:10, Amos 6:8, Proverbs 21:4, Proverbs 13:10, Proverbs 10:2 and Proverbs 11:2
One key line in his sermon was, "Pride gets you down and keeps you down. It is the ultimate barrier between God and man, and between people." Royce shared the stories in Luke 15 about the lost sheep, lost coin, and mostly the lost son. The father had no pride to receive his son back to the household in full. Royce also shared thoughts from chapter 71 of The Desire of Ages about Jesus great humility, and left us with the question, "Who did wash Jesus' feet?" The final Bible verse was Matthew 11: 28, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Thank you, Royce, for coming to share at Orchard City this past weekend!

So nice to have 'our' family back up for the praise hymn to end the service. Thank you!
