Sabbath, October 5th, 2013

We enjoyed a special Sabbath at Orchard City SDA Church this weekend.

Jerrie Lou took the Sabbath School and shared about missions near and far.  Thank you, Jerrie Lou!!

Lesson study - the new lesson on the Sanctuary - was shared with us by Wesley Torres from the BC Conference. His powerpoint and general direction of the lesson was greatly appreciated and many people participated with reading Bible texts, by asking a question, or stating an insight. We learned a lot, shared much, and actually went through the whole week of study. Thank you so much Pastor Torres!!

Pastor Wesley Torres with his happy grin.
A friendly chat after the lesson study.
"Walking and Leaping and Praising God"
Pam shared such an excellent story with the children. It was about a man knowing that his father
was the captain of the ship and that he would come for him - just like Jesus will be there for us.
Amazingly Kim sang the heartfelt song... "Your Anchor Holds" right after the ship story... like they had planned it!

Pastor Wahl enjoys history and shared with us about Joseph Bates - a sea captain, William Miller, John Quincy Adams, and more who read widely. How much Joseph Bates and William Miller and Rachel Oakes Preston all added to our church history.

Then he talked about Samuel. How he heard the Voice calling in the night. How he responded. How it changed people's lives.

Pastor Wahl had the sermon at OCC a month ago. At that time he gave us all an assignment:
Think of 3 locations where you experienced God in your life.
Think of 3 people who God used to impact your life for Him.
Think of 3 people you could impact their life for Christ.

We went over these, but first sang a verse of the hymn, "I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go Dear Lord." Then he gave the congregation the opportunity to share the first point about the location.

We went to the next verse of the song and then stopped for more sharing.
It was a very meaningful and heartfelt time together this Sabbath morning.

Thank you so much, Brian and Pam.

Doug told an experience of God's leading when he was truck driving.
Bob shared a couple of stories about how God worked with him.
Closing with a benediction.
Judy came to visit mum and dad (and me) for the weekend. It is always nice to have family join us at church.
Pastor Wahl greeted Auntie Beth and then had a special prayer with Esther, Judy, Naomi and Beth. Thank you, Pastor.
Auntie Beth was able to come to church again. It was so nice to have her there.
A sweet gift from a sweet person.
